This is a relay race game covering Solving Multi-Step Equations
. Students are divided up into teams of 5 and sit in vertical rows. Each student completes one step to the solving process and then passes the paper to his/her teammate sitting behind them. Play continues until the equation is solved. The last player checks the solution and brings the paper up to the front to be the first team to have the correct answer.
The game is played in 5 rounds (2 equations each) and the equations get more difficult as the rounds progress. Specific topics covered are solving by distributing, solving by combining like terms, solving by distributing and then combining like terms and solving by distributing a negative and then combining like terms. The last round is a review round where the student has to translate an expression first and then solve it. Directions and key included. 11 pages, 10 different equations/relays and key included.
