Creating equations from word problems is a valuable tool for your students. This resource is a review of setting up and solving equations and inequalities. It is meant to be used as extra practice after students have been taught how to solve equations and inequalities. Student will set up the problems then they will show work and justify each step. There are three worksheets. The first two worksheets can be used for notes since they both contain a practice problem to demonstrate the justification process. The first worksheet is for equations. The second worksheet is for inequalities. The third worksheet is a mixed review. There are two versions of the mixed review. One version is easier to grade and would be good for struggling students. The other version is for students to show all work and justifications. Both versions contain the exact same problems.
Lesson Plan: The first two worksheets are for guided practice and the third one is for independent practice. This lesson is a refresher for setting up and solving equations and inequalities. It is not meant to be an introductory lesson. I made it for my Algebra II class for a beginning of the year refresher over this subject matter.
