Students practice equations with “special cases” by sorting 24 equation cards according to the number of solutions they have (one solution, no solution or all real numbers). This activity is hands-on and a great way to get students communicating about math! It’s easy to use and can be completed individually, with a partner, or as a game in groups.
*All of the equations have variables on both sides of the equation. Some of the equations include distributing, some include rational coefficients, and some include combining like terms.
What is included?
*24 equation cards for sorting
*Ideas for Implementation and CCSS/TEKS Alignment
*CCSS Standard 8.EE.7.A and TEKS 8.8C
