In this activity, students will solve equations with variables on both sides . Students will match “follow me” cards with equations and solutions to create a path once they are finished. Because the students’ activity pieces have been randomized on an output sheet, students are able to cut their own puzzle pieces out without first being exposed to the solution. This means no prep for you!
Other ideas for this activity include:
Have students check their answers on the back side of the activity pieces.
Allow students to work individually, in groups, or in a competition to encourage motivation.
Cut the pieces of one puzzle and laminate them. Keep them, along with the directions, in a file folder for a quick enrichment activity for early finishers.
This activity is great for kinesthetic learners and keeps students engaged while they practice their skills. The problems vary in difficulty to ensure an appropriate level of challenge to your students.
