Students can work independently or with a partner to put together this Tarsia puzzle. The best part about this activity is there is no prep for you as a teacher! The printable version is not the solution, so the students can cut the pieces out themselves and put it together.
I usually print on colored card stock, but you could also laminate if you’d like to reuse from class to class. Or, (I’ve never done this but I think it would be fun) you could try to print it really big and make a huge puzzle to put together to display in the hallway!
There are two versions of this Tarsia puzzle. Level 1 does not have distractor answers that do not have a solution. As you can see from the solution, there are “edge pieces”. Level 2 includes distractor answers that do not have a solution. As you can see from the solution, there are no “edge pieces”. The two puzzles have the same problems.
These problems include one no solution, one infinite solutions. Most problems and answers are integers, but a few are fractions and decimals.
