I use this PowerPoint in my Algebra 2 class. It could also be used in an Algebra 1 class, but you might want to simplify some of the more complicated equations.
CA Standard for Algebra 1:
4.0 Students simplify expressions before solving linear equations and inequalities in one variable, such as 3(2x-5) + 4(x-2) = 12.
5.0 Students solve multistep problems, including word problems, involving linear equations and linear inequalities in one variable and provide justification for each step.
Common Core Standards:
Analyze and solve linear equations and pairs of simultaneous linear equations.
Solve linear equations in one variable. (Common Core Standard 8EE-7)
b. Solve linear equations with rational number coefficients, including equations whose solutions require expanding expressions using the distributive property and collecting
like terms. (Common Core Standard 8EE-7b)
