This powerpoint builds on an understanding of solving systems with graphs and tables. First the students warm up by solving a system with that method. Then the question of whether there are other approaches is raised. Students are then presented with a scenario, followed by an embedded video showing how we can use a substitution method. This is followed by slides showing what the problem would look like when solved in a formal algebraic way. Next, the steps for using substitution method are summarized. This is followed by another embedded video demonstrating the method on a sample problem. Students are then presented a few questions that allow them to try the method. Solutions are then provided.
