This resource includes a quick reference guide on the five methods used to solve quadratic equations, a quadratic sort, exit slips and four worksheets that can be used in a variety of ways.
Five Methods Reference Guide
Students can use this quick reference guide to think about which method would be best (most efficient) in order to solve a quadratic equation. Each method includes some examples of when it could be used along with a practice problem. These notes can be glued directly into a notebook or can be made into a small booklet.
With this resource, students have the opportunity to sort twenty pieces into five categories. Each category has one narrative piece that describes the quadratic method that can be used to solve an equation. There are three equation pieces that fit into each category. A variety of solutions may exist depending on how students choose to sort the pieces.
Quadratic Methods Practice and Vocabulary Worksheet
This resource can be used to solidify that each method will produce the same solution for a given quadratic equation. One equation is provided and students solve the equation using each method, if possible. Students are asked to provide a short summary of their calculations. There are two versions of this worksheet with a different equation listed on each sheet. A third worksheet is provided with a blank space for you to write in your own equation. You may want to copy the vocabulary matching worksheet on the back side of this worksheet. Ten quadratic vocabulary words and definitions are provided for students to match together with colored pencils.
Two half pages with three quadratic equations are provided for you to check student understanding.
