1. Help your students visualize the solving process for the four methods of solving quadratic equations: graphing, factoring, completing the square, and quadratic formula. Each of the four solving methods is illustrated in three different sizes of flowcharts: a half sheet, mini-book, and full sheet s
Product Description
Help your students visualize the process for solving quadratic equations by using the quadratic formula. This flowchart is meant for graphing equations that are in standard form, or can easily be rewritten to be in that form. This flowchart works for ANY number of solutions, real or imaginary! Students are able to easily lead themselves or others through a problem, when using this graphic organizer.

The biggest issue I have run into over the years of teaching the quadratic formula is that students try to do too much all at once, whether that is on paper or on their calculator. They are rarely successful. A double negative sign gets missed, a parentheses gets dropped...something inevitably happens that throws off the rest of the problem. Forcing students to do just a few steps at a time greatly reduces student error.

Three versions are included: full-sheet and half-sheet sizes, as well as (my favorite!) a mini-book version. The half-sheet and mini-book versions are both designed to fit perfectly into any interactive notebook!

Three Versions Included:
*Full-sheet size, 1 per full page of paper.
*Half-Sheet Size (2 per page--cut in half and glue into interactive notebooks!)
*Mini-Book- The booklet fits 3 flowcharts, and is my favorite version to use in interactive notebooks!

Additionally, since I know each teacher covers simplifying square roots a bit differently, I have included three different variations (each available in each of the three versions listed above) on the simplifying the square root step. The three simplifying methods included are:
(1) Simplifying by prime factorization
(2) Simplifying by finding the largest perfect square factor
(3) Evaluating the root

I get just as much use out of this flowchart in Algebra 1 as I do in Algebra 2, do to the flexibility to handle any number and type of solution. This product is really flexible so it can meet your students at whatever level they're at.

Classroom-Use TIP: I have really loved laminating a class set of the full sheet size so students can work on the flowchart template with a dry erase marker.

Printing TIP: Always have your printer set to "FIT" or "SHRINK OVERSIZED PAGES!" Printers vary with the margins that they use, so this will ensure that all TPT products look their best!

Product Note: Flowcharts have been left blank for increased flexibility. Pictures in the preview file show how you can utilize the flowchart with ANY problem.
