This product is a Scavenger Hunt, ready to assign and use with your math students. The topic is Solving Quadratic Equations by Taking the Square Root. There are nine problems, or "stations," to which students will travel. Each station has its own equation. Students will solve the equation, and determine the solutions. From there, they will search for the next station with those solutions and continue until they've travelled to all nine stations. The letters spell out the word, "FORSYTHIA" backwards, to help the teacher quickly assess students' work.
My students enjoy Scavenger Hunts. They practice math concepts while getting up and moving. They can work independently or in a small group. They travel and work at their own pace. I get a chance to circulate with them and assess their understanding of the topics.
I often end class by asking students to present the last problem they solved under the document camera, to help summarize the lesson.
