This download includes an investigation activity and a few practice exercises for solving quadratics by factoring. Note: students should already know how to factor a quadratic when a=1.
The goal of this investigation activity is for students to observe that a quadratic equation will have two solutions (repeated solutions not included) and they will be the values that make the equation equal to zero.
Students will be completing tables of values, and making observations and connections. They will be able to explain how to find solutions to quadratics from factored form. Note: this activity assumes students can already factor quadratics when a=1.
