Guided Notes teaching students how to solve rational (fraction) expressions by getting common denominators and then cancelling the denominators, including factoring quadratic functions. The notes begin with a review of multiplying, dividing, adding, and subtracting rational expressions. Emphasis is on factoring before finding common denominators and again after clearing denominators and combining like terms. Extraneous solutions are included, plus the word problem yields a negative value for the perimeter which creates a good discussion about relevant answers. I also have a corresponding assignment of the same name.
