Of all the mathmatics in chemisty that give students the hardest time, stoichiometry is the most daunting for them. If you have not taught it with creating a chart, you have missed out on the fastest easiest way to solve Stoichiometry. This hand out gives a way to create a chart to fill in order to solve for all values. It is written to be a step by step process. This is the way to solve these problems that bypasses the factor label method that is so long and time consuming. The best part of the method is that you can solve for all values in about half the time and it is a great way to show the conservation of mass with adding up the grams of reactants and products of both sides. They come out to be about the same. A good companion lab to go with this is my stoichiometry lab which is a decomposition of Peroxide. This method also is a great way to teach limiting reactant quickly by comparing the result of the values to the measurements given.
