Help your students compare and review the three methods for solving systems of equations: graphing, substitution, and elimination.
FIVE versions are included to fit your needs!
A BLANK Flowchart that can be used to compare methods of solving ANY system of linear equations as well as FOUR unique example problems that cover a range of solving scenarios. This flowchart is a great conversation starter for when one method will be more efficient than another, as well as review.
When I teach the systems of equations unit in my class, I love to hand this out at the beginning of the unit and show my students each method, using one of the 4 example problems. Students then use that paper for reference through the remainder of the unit, and then we have the other three examples to use as review. My favorite part of this product, however, is the blank flowchart because it allows students to use it with ANY problem that they come across. I also love using the blank flowchart as a reference sheet throughout the unit.
This product can be used in many ways to suit your needs. When I'm using this resource for independent review or as a partner review activity in class, I prefer using the four versions with examples pre-printed on them. When we're doing multiple review problems in class and I want the freedom to pick my own problems to fit the needs of my students, I go with the blank flowchart. I also like the blank flowchart as a way for students to jog their memories if they've gotten stuck on a practice problem. It's a great reference to look back at in order to help themselves get right back on track!
