Product Description
This resource contains notes and homework for solving systems of equations by graphing, substitution, and elimination.

GRAPHING:
This resource contains notes and homework for solving systems of equations by graphing. The notes are a "discovery lesson" designed to help students discover how to solve a system of equations by graphing, instead of simply telling them how to do it. They are also scaffolded, beginning with what it means to be a solution to an equation, how to determine if something is a solution to an equation or not, and then building up to students discovering how the graph can tell them the solution to a system. The notes also address systems with no solution and infinitely many solutions, as well as give students a list of drawbacks to this method to help them think through when to use this method and when to use another method. There is a homework assignment included. Answer keys are also included!

The notes can be used:
--As guided notes, to be completed as a class
--As a partner activity, to be completed in class with teacher guidance
--As a "read-and-try" homework assignment--having students attempt to work through the assignment on their own before coming in to class to talk about it. *If you do this, you will want to fill in the blanks on page 1 for the student so they have the definitions they need!

SUBSTITUTION:
The notes address systems with no solution and infinitely many solutions, as well as give students a list of drawbacks to this method to help them think through when to use this method and when to use another method. At the end, the notes also address the "magic" behind choosing which variable to solve for when using the substitution method. There is a homework assignment included. Answer keys are also included, with detailed solutions!

ELIMINATION:
This resource contains notes and homework for solving systems of equations by elimination. The notes address systems with no solution and infinitely many solutions, as well as give students a list of drawbacks to this method to help them think through when to use this method and when to use another method. At the end, students can practice deciding which variable will be easier to solve for first. There is a homework assignment included. Answer keys are also included, with detailed solutions!
