This lesson is meant to be used as guided notes for an entire class. In this lesson, the elimination method is taught in 2 parts. In the first part, students are taught that they can add and subtract equations in the same way that they have done in the past with numbers. After learning how to solve systems that contain either same or opposite like terms, they practice their skills. In the second part, students learn when and why they need to use multiplication. At this point, students should be taught that there is more than one way to implement multiplication for each system. Finally, they practice their skills.
The 2 assessments are based off of the guided notes.
