This is an activity that allows students to see how solving systems of linear equations by elimination works using manipulatives. Students can use standard algebra tiles, but I have also included my own manipulatives that can be printed and cut out. It includes a worksheet with 8 problems, with space for students to draw what they did with the manipulatives. I find this to be a useful way to hold students accountable for the work they do with manipulatives. Because I used this as an introduction, all the problems can be done by adding or subtracting the equations without needing to multiply either of the equations first. If you wish to give problems that require multiplication, you can always edit the word document. I have included the answer key. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact me.
