Description

Want an easy activity to help your students practice solving systems of equations by substitution? This is a digital activity designed in Google Forms™ and is set up to be graded automatically! This systems of equations activity includes 14 problems where students use the substitution method to solve.

This Google Forms™ activity is set up to show students one question at a time. Students type in their answers as ordered pairs and can immediately see their scores once they've completed the activity.

This solving systems of equations by substitution activity is editable and self-grading!

  • Add questions of your own to the activity
  • Delete any questions you do not want to use
  • Change the answer type if desired (short answer, multiple-choice, etc.)
  • Switch the order of the questions
  • Shuffle the answer options
  • Choose if students see the correct answers, etc.

Solutions include positive and negative integers. One system has no solution and one has an infinite number of solutions (you can delete any question you don't want or add in your own).

See the link in the preview for detailed instructions on how to edit, assign to students, and view their scores.

After you purchase this systems of equations activity, you will receive a pdf with instructions on how to copy the activity to your Google Drive and how to share with students. Although this activity can be printed from Google Drive, a printed copy of this activity is not included in the download. The download is a PDF instruction sheet with a link to the digital activity.

Analyze and solve pairs of simultaneous linear equations.
Solve systems of two linear equations in two variables algebraically, and estimate solutions by graphing the equations. Solve simple cases by inspection. For example, 3𝘹 + 2𝘺 = 5 and 3𝘹 + 2𝘺 = 6 have no solution because 3𝘹 + 2𝘺 cannot simultaneously be 5 and 6.
Solve linear equations and inequalities in one variable, including equations with coefficients represented by letters.
Solve systems of linear equations exactly and approximately (e.g., with graphs), focusing on pairs of linear equations in two variables.
