This lesson is meant to be used as guided notes for an entire class. In this lesson, the substitution method is taught in two parts. In the first part, students are introduced to the concept of substitution and only solve systems requiring basic substitution (no distributing). In the second part, students learn how to solve systems that do involve distribution. At the end, they learn how to determine when there is no solution or infinitely many solutions, and they are reminded of what these systems must look like as graphs.
The 2 assessments are based off of the guided notes.
