Included in this packet are 8 problems regarding the cost of baseballs and golf balls. The 8 problems are given on one sheet and provided four (4) problems per sheet to provide space for the students’ work.
For each problem, there are two equations, each with one or more baseball(s) and one or more golf ball(s), where the price of each are related according to the equations.
An expression for the price of a baseball or golf ball is determined from one of the equations and is substituted into the other equation.
The equation with the substitution is solved for the price of one of the objects; then the price of the other object is determined.
Answers are provided for the problems.
