This is a collaborative activity, designed for students to complete in pairs. There are two versions of this activity include, one more challenging than the other. There are 8 table tents per version, each with two equations. The tents should be folded in half, so that they can be stood up between two students, with one equation facing each student. The two equations on each side of tent are different, but address a similar concept/type of equation. Equations involving combining like terms and the distributive property are included. Each side also includes the answer to the partner's problem, so the students can check one another, and work together if an incorrect answer is found. The students really enjoy this collaboration, and it is a great way to incorporate independent and collaborative practice in the same activity.
