This lesson begins with a warm up that asks students to use the associative property to write two equations so that they have the same solution set as the given two equations. They are instructed not to solve.
Problems 1 and 2 on the provided worksheet will serve as model problems and then students will complete problems 3-6. Students are instructed to check the solutions to their equations as well. This will serve to reinforce evaluating algebraic expressions from earlier in this chapter.
An exit card is included in order to assess student's ability to solve and check a two-step equation independently.
