This worksheet features 11 problems for students to solve, starting with the circle marked “START” and ending with the circle marked “FINISH.” Students must use the order of operations to simplify each expression and then follow the path marked with the correct answer to the next problem.
• Bingo Activity
- for practicing Solving Equations
This game includes 32 unique bingo boards as well as a worksheet for students to show their work on. The PowerPoint presentation offers 32 problems which range in difficulty, including one-step, multi-step, variables on both sides, fractions, combining like terms, using the Distributive Property, etc.
• “How Many Solutions?” Sorting Activity
- for practicing Solving Equations with No Solution or Infinitely Many Solutions
This activity includes two worksheets and 15 problems on slips of paper. The first worksheet is for your students to show their work on. The second worksheet is for them to paste the slips of paper on according to how many solutions the equation has. (Note: You or your students will need to cut the 15 slips of paper out before using this activity.)
• Stations Scavenger Hunt Activity
- for practicing Writing Equations to Solve Word Problems
This activity includes a worksheet for students to show their work on, as well as 8 problems to be solved by your students. The problems can be displayed in two different ways: either as posters hung around your classroom, or as folded tents to be placed on desks. This activity is self-checking because the answer to each problem leads students to the next problem.
• Pun Puzzle Activity
- for practicing Solving Absolute Value Equations
This activity includes a two-sided worksheet . The front side displays 9 problems for students to solve and the back side is for them to show their work. The answers they find for each problem will help them solve the pun presented at the beginning of the activity.
• “I have..., Who has…?” Activity
- for practicing Writing Absolute Value Equations
This activity includes 15 cards that have both an answer (“I have...”) as well as a question (“Who has...?”). This game requires students to write absolute value equations based on the solutions provided by their peers. This is a great way to engage the whole class with one activity.
• Puzzle Activity
- for practicing Rewriting Equations and Formulas
This activity presents 17 problems for students to solve. Each question is written in Standard Form for linear equations, and students must rewrite the equation to be in Slope-Intercept Form. After rewriting each equation, students must find the answer on one of the other puzzle pieces and glue it next to the question piece. A puzzle board and a worksheet for students to show their work on are included. (Note: you will need to cut out the pieces before presenting them to your students.)
