This 5 page packet is packed with 11 varied activities to practice school supplies and classes! The vocabulary and activities build understanding so students can comprehend the song “No lo tengo” by Sr. Wooly. The song needs to be purchased separately. Students can work in pairs or independently for most of the activities which can be done at home or at school. The activities focus on variety with listening, vocabulary building at different levels, speaking, writing, and various opportunities to build reading comprehension. And students get to sing! The following are the included activities.
Activity 1: Listening activity to introduce students to the school supplies where students match what they hear to a picture.
Activity 2: Matching activities to associate school supplies with the class for which they would be best suited.
Activity 3: Grammar practice with the indefinite articles in singular and plural forms
Activity 4: Ridiculous or not? Short reading activity where students have to determine if the sentence is ridiculous to help build vocabulary comprehension
Activity 5: Cloze activity with the song “No lo tengo.” After hearing the song, students will want to sing it!
Activity 6: Students work with the vocabulary from the song in a more challenging activity where they need to figure out the word from a context clue. A word bank is provided
Activity 7: Online practice of vocabulary with Quizlet. Vary how you use it based on your access to technology. It can be a whole class whiteboard activity where students write down answers or be used for individual practice at school or home. Two different types of sets are provided. Activity 8: Practice putting sentences together with supplies needed for particular classes.
Activity 9: Students go back to the pictures in Activity 1 and label them without using resources as a formative self-assessment to see how they are doing.
Activity 10: Students practice speaking by asking one another what they need for particular classes.
Activity 11: Students read an excerpt from a story and answer True and False comprehension questions in English.
