Students analyze the literary elements and figurative language in songs they select for the assignment. Students determine the theme/message, mood/tone, point of view/perspective, etc. in music of their choice. Students select 5 songs and then narrow down their selections through a brainstorming organizer chart, eventually selecting the song with the largest amount of literary elements to analyze in a final song project. This simple brainstorming chart is the first step in a multi-part project. The chart was made with the table features of MS Word and can be readily modified to fit your intended uses.
