This packet is a guide and starter pack for beginner lyric writers. Using Mary Had a Little Lamb as a template, this packet guides beginners while writing, analyzing and refining their lyric writing skills. Included are multiple sequential worksheets, assisting the understanding of the relationship between rhythm and syllable numbers. Concepts explored include manipulation and use of syllables to the beat; matching syllable numbers to rhythms; 4 beat measures; quarter, eighth and sixteenth notes and triplets; lyric structure; and accented/ stressed syllables.
