Song lyrics for the following songs: "The Death of Emmitt Till" by Bob Dylan; "Strange Fruit" by Billie Holiday; "Folsom Prison Blues" by Johnny Cash; "Losing my Religion" by R.E.M; and "Brave" by Sara Barielles. All of the songs are thematically linked to the novel "To Kill a Mockingbird" by Harper Lee.

3. "Songs as Poetry Worksheet." The students are asked to work as a group to analyze the songs as poetry.

4. "Tweet Exit Slip." At the end of class, each student is asked to "tweet" a prediction about the novel "To Kill a Mockingbird" based on the songs they listened to in class.
