Product Description
Bring Music into the Discussion of Text

Music is a cultural product of its time and situation. This activity asks students to analyze how music acts as protest, statement, or agent of change. I use this activity with The Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass.

The product includes:
• Teacher notes
• 2-page student activity sheet

Students have an opportunity to bring their musical interests into the discussion of literature or nonfiction.
