Recognized with a Teacher's Choice Award in 2011, the SONGS OF RESILIENCE is THE leading MUSIC resource promoting social-emotional learning. This resource manual with 4 CDs can be used alone, integrated with any strength-based social-emotional curriculum: or as a best practice, integrated with the DECA (Devereux Early Childhood Assessment Program). Resilience research informs us that young children who have strong internal protective factors of secure attachment to adults, a sense of initiative and self-control tend to have positive developmental trajectories in school and in life. This product is designed to be used by early childhood educators to foster resilience in their children. The songs in the package give children the concepts, behaviors and self-talk that result in strong internal protective factors. In addition the digital resource manual includes research behind the song, lyrics, setting up the song-discussion tips, dance and movement tips, how and when to use the song, associated activities, partnering with families, suggested literature (books) to read with the song and the sheet music for each song. The digital CDs also include the karaoke or backing tracks so once the children learn the songs, they can sing them without the vocalist. All songs in this resource were written by award-winning composer DAVID KISOR.
