These pages are great way to practice open syllables at independent work stations such as Word Work. Each page has a ‘Sopa de sílabas’ where students practice identifying the syllables. Below, students practice tracing and writing the syllables.
To keep the activity fresh, I have students mark the syllables in a variety of ways. In our classroom we circled the syllables with crayons and markers but also marked them with bingo dabbers, wiki sticks, highlighters and sticky notes.
