Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz was a poet during the colonial age in Mexico. She became a nun so that she could educate herself at a time when women were not allowed to learn how to read and write. Her story is truly amazing. Great poet to introduce your students when doing a Mexico Unit or for Women's History month.
