This interactive adapted book is a simple emotion sorting activity that can also be used to make books for individual students. It includes the emotions/feelings and tools/strategies that can help manage those feelings. Use this self regulation product as an adjunct to any self regulation/behavior/social curriculum (How Does Your Engine Run™, PBIS™, SEL™, ZONEs of Regulation™...) for fun ways to review and master the material. Work on self regulation skills and coping skills. Help students learn to identify their emotions and choose strategies that will help them regulate their behaviors to match the situation.
Use this Teen Sort and Match Emotions and Self Regulation Strategies link for an older version of this resource.
This set is also sold at a discount as part of my Self Regulation Mega Bundle.
Included: Cover page, 3 styles of sorting pages (new style added for one of my students) , emotion images, coping strategy images and journal page. Images are 2 inches by 2 inches, both color, as well as, black and white are included.
Students can identify how they are feeling and choose activities to help them manage their emotions. It can be done as a cut and paste activity or can be laminated and used with Velcro. Choose how many emotions you wish to use and copy that number of choice pages. You may need to make several copies of the templates and pictures depending on how you decide to use the resource with your students. A Journal page is included to use with images or have student draw how they feel and what strategy they could use to adjust there behavior or emotion to the situation. Color can be added to match what ever self regulation program you use.
Add color the feelings/emotions that work with your self regulation program. (I.e. Green for happy and calm.) Color over the "I feel" or print on colored paper.
Use as a way for students to choose from a calming strategy menu. Students who used pictures to communicate can begin to label/identify their emotions and make a choice of ways to regulate them as needed.
Black and white versions can be colored by students for fine motor practice.
Make two copies of the pictures and use them for a memory game.
Match black and white to color. Keep one page full and cut out the others to match black and white pictures to color pictures.
Students can use the pictures for a writing prompt and write simple I feel, I am, I can sentences.
