An important part of a child's understanding of text organisation is the ability to distinguish between letters, words and sentences. This knowledge affects both their reading and writing development. Sort it Out! is a hands on card sorting activity that will assist your students to learn the differences between letters, words and sentences.
Perfect for your pocket chart or for sorting on the floor and with cute graphics and bright colours this resource will engage your learners and spark discussion. The words used are taken from the Dolch Pre-Primer and Primer word lists (with a couple of simple CVC words in the mix) to encourage children to read each card independently. Bonus worksheets are included to use as evidence of learning - one requires cutting and pasting while the other requires writing. Simply differentiate as needed!
This resource will help towards reaching the following standards:
Common Core RFK1, RF1.1
Australian Curriculum (Foundation) ACELA1432, ACELA1435
