After studying the different ways to make a long "i" sound, have students practice spelling and sorting with this activity! Students receive a page of pictures and a sorting sheet. Under each picture, students write the correct spelling. After labeling all pictures, students cut them out, then sort and glue on the sorting sheet.
I have found this method to be extremely useful for visual learners and struggling students. It's also helpful for struggling readers to practice their decoding skills!
While I know there are more ways, this activity ONLY includes the 4 "chunks" i_e, ie, igh, & y.
Thanks for looking!
