These sorting mats will enable your students (even kindergarten!) to sort and roll coins that you collect for a fundraiser. There are tables for students to fill with coins that correlate with the amount of money that fits in a roll. (Example: 50 spots for 50 pennies to roll)
My kindergarten students were able to roll $252 worth of change using these mats. I printed them on card stock so they were sturdy.
Each day, students sorted the coins we collected. Next, students worked in pairs to fill up their pages. After I looked over them to make sure there weren't coins missing, I gave them coin rollers and they filled them.I used the coin rollers with the roll at the bottom so they won't fall out of the bottom.
It provide great real-world practice on recognizing coins, and the students thought it was so fun!
Happy counting and rolling!
By they way, our project was "Pennies for Pets" to benefit our local Humane Society if you are looking for a new idea!
