The aim of this activity to recognize happy and mad faces, and distinguish between them.
There are two activities; one is a higher level skills, and one is a lower level skill. This activity was made to be differentiated for different levels of students in the classrooom.
The first activity is simply matching picture to picture. The pictures are already sorted. So all you need to do is laminate the template, and cut out the separate pictures (laminate them as well) and apply velcro to make a matching activity.
The second activity requires the child to sort the mad and happy faces. Laminate the blank template, as well as the separate pictures, and have the students identify and sort the pictures.
I created this activity as a prerequisite to understanding feelings and how they can change. Students can start to focus on character's faces in a story, and determine how they are feeling. Therefore, you can link this skill to your ELA lesson.
