As a class we named and recorded in the class science journal all the instruments that the children were familiar with. We discussed how they make sound. We played a game – the children took turns to choose an instrument and show the class how to play it. The children were introduced to the word cards – blow, pluck, shake and bang. The children then returned to their seats to work in teams to examine their own tray of instruments and sort the pictures on the worksheet. To conclude the activity the children shared their findings with each other and with the whole class. There is a rubric to accompany this activity should you require it for an assessment piece.
