Do your firsties like to sort? Mine love to.
This sorting activity is a great work station for phonics practice!
There is also a Magic 'e" wipe off card activity.
Students will look at each picture card and place it in the proper column . A picture has been added at the top of each column to help them. There are 2 sets of picture cards for each sorting mat. One set has the words that name the pictures and the other set does not.
Start out with the set with the pictures & words. Students will use the words to help them identify the pictures. After students have used the word support cards for a while, switch them out with the cards that do not have this support. This way you can tell if they have mastered the vocabulary and the target sound.
