Sound Blending Game

Description
The Sound Blending Game is a listening activity that teaches phonemic awareness to get students ready to read. It is done with pre-readers and beginning readers to make them aware of the individual sounds (i.e. phonemes) that make up words. This game can be played with children as young as two through early elementary grades, or even with older students struggling with reading.
This is a listening-only activity, so can be done most anywhere without preparation or materials other than these word lists. Teachers can use it with a single child, small group, or whole classroom. The game can be incorporated into a classroom using Reading Reflex/Phono-Graphix, Jolly Phonics, or Montessori.
Includes:
★ Over 500 words broken down by phoneme
★ Nine categories of word lists: animals, foods, classroom items, clothing, body parts, kitchen items, colors, actions, and names
★ Each list is grouped by the number of phonemes in the word to allow you to easily find words that are the correct difficulty for your students
★ The last list contains popular names broken into their phonemes. For names not included, you can use the key at the beginning to add a name, so the game will be tailored to your students
