The following PDF chart is an excellent visual reminder of the 44 sounds (phonemes) of the English language. It is a phonics resource that can be used to support students in learning the letters and sounds of English.
The 44 English phonemes are represented by the 26 letters of the alphabet individually and in combination. This chart includes the most common and the alternate spellings of the English phonemes. The chart includes: graphs (single sounds), digraphs (two letters making one sound) and trigraphs (three letters making one sound).
The charts are divided into two pages.
The first page contains:
--> The CONSONANT SOUNDS, both common and alternate spellings along with Jolly Phonics visuals.
--> The uppercase and lowercase letters in alphabetical order down the bottom (with the vowel sounds in red).
The second page contains:
--> The VOWEL SOUNDS, both common and alternate spelling along with the Jolly Phonics Visuals.
--> Labelled Short Vowel sounds.
--> Labelled Long Vowel sounds.
--> Other Vowel Sounds.
--> The uppercase and lowercase alphabet vowel letters down the bottom.
