Product Description
The following PDF chart is an excellent visual reminder of the 44 sounds (phonemes) of the English language. It is a phonics resource that can be used to support students in learning the letters and sounds of English.

The 44 English phonemes are represented by the 26 letters of the alphabet individually and in combination. This chart includes the most common and the alternate spellings of the English phonemes. The chart includes: graphs (single sounds), digraphs (two letters making one sound) and trigraphs (three letters making one sound).

The charts are divided into two pages.

The first page contains:
--> The CONSONANT SOUNDS, both common and alternate spellings along with Jolly Phonics visuals.
--> The uppercase and lowercase letters in alphabetical order down the bottom (with the vowel sounds in red).

The second page contains:
--> The VOWEL SOUNDS, both common and alternate spelling along with the Jolly Phonics Visuals.
--> Labelled Short Vowel sounds.
--> Labelled Long Vowel sounds.
--> Other Vowel Sounds.
--> The uppercase and lowercase alphabet vowel letters down the bottom.

How to use this chart:
This chart can be placed on student desks to assist students in decoding and encoding words when reading and writing. The chart helps build confidence for students learning the complex language of English.

--> Print both pages on separate A4 or A3 paper and laminate both the pages in the one sheet (facing outwards to allow students to flip to each side).
--> Use this chart for modelled or independent writing from K-12. All students should have their own chart to reference the sounds as they write them.
--> Use this chart for modelled, guided or independent reading K-12. All students should have their own chart to reference the sounds as they decode words.

This chart is an excellent resource for:
- K-12 Classroom Teachers,
- Parents,
- Special Education Teachers,
- Reading Teachers,
- Tutors.

This chart has trialled and tested in Early Stage One, and Stage 2 in an Australian school and has worked alongside Jolly Phonics, Thrass, and Sound Waves phonics programs successfully.

The pictures correspond with the Jolly Phonics Program, along with the first sound in each sound family box. The addition of the /qu/ sound has been added into the chart as it corresponds with the Jolly Phonics program. Some of the alternate spellings along with their referenced words correspond with the SoundWaves or THRASS phonics programs.
