Product Description
In this activity, students practice the scientific inquiry skill of predicting with the sound of beans in opaque containers such as film canisters. First, they listen to the sound of a full container of beans and then one that is ¼ full. Then, as partners, they use varying amounts of beans in the five canisters, shake and predict the number of beans in each. Teacher instructions, scoring rubric, student recording page, and creative writing ideas are included in this lesson packet.
This lesson is in the green book Rising to the Challenge of the National Science Education Standards, also sold on this website. This is lesson six that will also be available for purchase in a packet of nine process skill lessons on sound.
