Sound Hound Phonics Letter Sound Game
This game has been extracted from my various Letter of the Week Units
and combined here. If you have already purchased the Letter of the Week units, please DO NOT purchase this!
The aim of this activity is for children to identify the position of the focus letter within a given word. Each card displays a picture with a letter above it. Children have to identify whether the letter at the top of the card is heard at the beginning (head) of the word, in the middle (tummy) of the word or at the end (tail) of the word. Children place the cards under the corresponding doggie section, and then complete the cut cut and paste worksheet that accompanies this activity. The worksheet is free-standing as well, so it can be done independently of this activity.
To prepare the game for use, print, laminate and cut out the dog or dogs you would like to use. Cut the dog along the dashed lines to separate the head, tummy, and tail. Print, laminate and cut apart the picture cards. Store the dog, cards and worksheets together in a zip lock bag or storage device of your choice.
Each letter unit contains 18 picture cards, which means 460 + picture cards for your students to sort!
