What are sound mats?
Sound mats are used to introduce and teach a specific beginning sound.
10 mats: 1 for each of the following initial sounds (b, p, m, h, d, t, n, w, k, and g). 8 pictures appear on each mat. That's 80 words to practice!
First, laminate pages 3-12. These are the mats.
Then, cut out all cards on pages 13-22 and laminate.
How do I use them?
There are lots of ways that students can use this product. Select the sound mat you wish to use and the corresponding cards. Students say their target word or choose the labeled picture from a field of two before matching the card to the correct picture on the mat. Mats can also be used for auditory bombardment, articulation or identification of common objects.
