My Sound Slide can be used to help your children with phonemic awareness activities. I use the sliding arm technique to help my children segment words and hear the sounds in a word. This visual slide serves as the same purpose. I often will give goldfish crackers or small dinosaurs/car/animal toys to put on their slide.
How to use:
1. I give them a word and have segment the sound while sliding down each box of the slide.
2. Give a target sound (i.e. /a/). Then ask where that sound is in a word (i.e. cap). They will segment the sounds and stop in the box they hear the sound (c-a...../a/ is in the yellow box!!)
