Description
Learning about sound wall graphemes can be easy and fun! These cute grapheme chant cards help you to introduce graphemes from the sound wall in a fun and engaging way. There are over 100+ cards to choose from!
Each chant poster uses the same chant/song with different details depending on the grapheme you are teaching. This way students can become familiar with the chant and even practice on their own or with a partner after your whole group grapheme lesson.
Poster Features:
The whimsical personified letters for each grapheme poster are shown holding hands to represent letters working together to create one phoneme or sound.
The posters also feature an anchor picture and example words to show the grapheme in use within words. The phoneme or sound is practiced many times in each chant.
The Tune: There is no single prescribed way to chant the lyrics; choose whichever way feels most comfortable to you. The first part of the song can be sung to the tune of “Baa Baa Black Sheep”, or it can be simply chanted as a “rap”. More Ideas for using the Grapheme Chant Posters:
•After directly teaching a grapheme, add the related card to your phonics centers for reinforcement. Students can use the cards to chant to themselves or with a partner.
•Students may also enjoy making their own version of each poster for personal reference. Simply provide blank poster paper and let students copy the information from each poster.
•Use your printer settings to print 4 smaller cards per page, and send them home for extra practice with parents after you have directly taught each phoneme!
