Description
Teaching and reinforcing sound wall graphemes and phonemes is going to be so much easier with this Sound Wall Printing Dictionary! After directly teaching a letter pattern or grapheme, reinforce the lesson by having students print related words in their dictionaries. Encourage students to refer to their dictionaries during reading and writing tasks. This process encourages students to think the phoneme/grapheme relationships.
Each page of the dictionary is clearly labeled with the phoneme and anchor picture. In some cases there are up to four graphemes per page, with room to write related words under each heading so that students can view all graphemes for a particular phoneme at once. One example word is given for each grapheme to trace. The entire dictionary is organize (and labeled) by sound wall articulation category (vowel, fricative, stops, etc.)
The pages can be used in any order. Simply remove the pages for the graphemes that you do not plan to teach.
There is also a student dictionary cover, and a mini-sound wall poster included for student reference (optional).
A note about organization: Some graphemes are given more space to write than others. For example, long A has 4 graphemes per page, while short A only has one (so there is an entire page for short A words). This layout is intended to keep each phoneme self-contained so you can change the order of the pages without mixing up which graphemes are on each page. There are some graphemes omitted from the dictionary if they are infrequently used. However, blank and editable pages are included for you to create your own grapheme lists if needed.
Editable Templates
If you are teaching a grapheme that is not included in the dictionary, there is a set of editable templates included with your download. These PowerPoint templates provide three different formats for you to add your graphemes and phonemes.

1. Student Workbook Cover
2. Sound Wall Mini-Poster - for student reference at the front of the workbook (optional)
3. Grapheme Dictionary Pages - You can choose which pages to include in your dictionary. Each page is clearly labeled with the phoneme/picture and the word wall category (vowel, fricative, stops, etc.) (42 pages)
4. Editable Templates - There are 3 templates to choose from, depending on how many graphemes you wish to have on each page. These are PowerPoint files, and graphemes are added by adding text boxes over the template.
