Students will read about sound waves to understand the concept of energy transfer in waves. Through the FOCUS method, your students will search through the text to answer text dependent questions and backing it up with evidence. They will annotate the text and complete a high-level question based on the text. Students will then conduct a sound wave scale by imagining a sound, illustrating the sound wave and finally rating the frequency from low to high.
By using the FOCUS close reading format for teaching the concept of sound waves, students will search through the text to learn vocabulary and key concepts. Activities in the FOCUS method provide consistency and effectiveness for both student's and teachers.
