This is a great way to introduce the geography and culture of South America.
The following are included:
• 29 slide PowerPoint with one slide per country and bonus thirteen slides on superlatives of South America
• 3 page accompanying worksheet and answer key
• numbered blank map of South America with blanks to fill in with countries and capitals
PowerPoint captions and worksheet are in Spanish.
PowerPoint, worksheet, and map are all numbered so they can be used together.
The PowerPoint includes a slide for each country in South America and French Guyana. Each country slide contains a map showing the country's location, the capital, the nationality and photos of each nation. There are 13 additional slides with superlatives related to South America, e.g. driest desert in the world (Atacama), largest rainforest (Amazonas), most dangerous road, etc. Students follow along by filling in the information in the worksheet (country, capital, nationality and brief fact) and completing the blank map. The language in the activities is easy to follow and brief. Can be done as a teacher led activity or independently. This really brings the countries alive, opens discussions about the culture of South America and helps students retain the information. This takes me 45 minutes or more depending on pacing.
