This 2-page printable scavenger hunt can be used while teaching South Carolina Social Studies Standard 3-3.5: 3-3.5 Outline the structure of state government, including the branches of government (legislative, executive, and judicial), the representative bodies of each branch (general assembly, governor, and supreme court), and the basic powers of each branch.
While teaching the content, I have students create a tree graphic to outline the three branches of South Carolina's State Government (legislative, executive, and judicial). After we have learned the content, I give the students this scavenger hunt to be used with their tree graphic. This not only helps students process what they have learned, but holds them accountable during their learning. This scavenger hunt can be used as a study guide for an assessment.
I recommend using South Carolina Studies Weekly: Week 21 as a means for information. These can be purchased at www.studiesweekly.com. They are a great resource for any classroom.
