Have students review the perspectives and viewpoints of the Revolutionary War for the main groups (Native Americans, African Americans, Patriots, Loyalists, and Women) in South Carolina.
This card-matching activity is great for students to practice. It contains 5 role cards, 24 attribute cards, and the answer key for each group with explanations for needed ideas. This activity can be given to students in small groups or individuals. You can prepare the activity by cutting out each card and making it a station, or you can give it to all students at once and have them cut out their own cards. It is a very flexible activity that encourages good discussion in the classification process.
I typically use this as an assessment, but it can be completed earlier in the indicator study. For example, during a traditional lecture, you could pause and have students sort out one group at a time. Alternatively, after the entire lecture, students could sort out all the groups.
Hope you enjoy the product! It has many possibilities, and if you find one that I have not mentioned, please comment so I can improve my craft as well.
